Damika Baker-Wilson

A career-long development professional with expertise in fundraising for museums and cultural institutions, Damika Baker-Wilson is currently a Senior Consultant for The Compass Group, a boutique fundraising consulting firm. She plays a key role in supporting Compass’ portfolio of clients, which is the most diverse in the industry.
With over a decade of frontline experience in annual giving, major gifts, development operations, grant writing, campaign management, and database management, Damika understands the realities and challenges that development leaders face. Her experience includes development leadership roles at the Smithsonian Institution, HumanitiesDC, Academy Art Museum, Reginald F. Lewis Museum Maryland African American History & Culture, and the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. Damika is a member of the 2018 cohort of the Museum Leadership Institute’s (formerly Getty Leadership Institute) NextGen executive education program, a blended-learning experience for the museum field’s emerging top talent.
Damika currently serves on the boards of Adkins Arboretum, the Association of African American Museums, Talbot Mentors and Talbot Arts. She is member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, African American Development Officers, Women of Color in Fundraising and Philanthropy, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. In addition to completing graduate coursework in nonprofit and association management at University of Maryland Global Campus and in museology/museum studies at Johns Hopkins University, Damika holds an undergraduate degree in Afro-American Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park.
