National Civil Rights Museum: Small But Mighty Storytime

April 4, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm

For this April 4th Commemorative Edition of Small But Mighty Storytime, Museum Educator, Dory Lerner will read Martin’s Big Words, written by Doreen Rappaport and illustrated by Bryan Collier. This story is a National Civil Rights Museum favorite because it tells the story of Martin Luther King, Jr. starting with his childhood and tracing his lifetime, his leadership of the Civil Rights Movement, and his legacy as a changemaker. The Museum will share treasures from their teaching collections to accompany the story and help bring it to life. To extend the learning, we will ask viewers to consider their own “BIG words” and create a book or art work that will inspire people to help build our beloved community.
