Beginning Genealogy and African American Genealogy Workshop

In recognition of Alex Haley’s 100th birthday and his influence on family history research Banneker-Douglass Museum and the Haley Family are offering a Beginning Genealogy and African American Genealogy workshop. The sessions, conducted by professional genealogist Lyndra Pratt Marshall, will be presented as part of the museum’s Freedom Bound exhibit which features on the histories of African Americans who fought against enslavement in Annapolis. Learn, or receive a refresher, of the best methods and practices a researcher should use to trace their family lineage through use of vital records, court records, federal census records, and other primary and secondary sources.
