The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) is sponsoring travel fellowships for selected awardees to attend the 2017 Museums Association of the Caribbean Annual General Meeting & Conference—Miami.
Award: Recipients will receive complimentary conference registration and are eligible to have expenses covered for roundtrip airfare and lodging at the conference hotel. Air travel and hotel reservations will be made directly by fellowship coordinators in consultation with awardees.
Eligibility: Fellowships will be awarded to senior-level undergraduate, graduate students, or emerging museum professionals. Preference will be given to applicants travelling from areas historically underrepresented in MAC conference attendance (typically Dutch, French, and Spanish speaking regions) and/or those with demonstrated financial hardship. Applicants will be evaluated based on leadership potential, academic/professional experience, and barriers to attendance. Employees of the Smithsonian Institution are not eligible for this award.
The 2017 Museums Association of the Caribbean Annual Conference & General Meeting, as well as the Smithsonian NMAAHC Fellows Program, are a joint collaboration between the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture and the Association of African American Museums.
Deadline for Applications: Sunday, April 30, 2017
